Robot Toy

What I thought the assignment was. I thought since I knew how to place the primitive shapes, I could just go ahead and build this Robot. I got a little ahead of myself, LOL. Week1 3D Production A Class. Shows initiative, right?

Learning to place primitive shapes to block in a robot in Maya. This was week one of 3D Production A class. The objective was to get familiar with navigating the 3D space of Maya, and learning where the tools and everything are.

Week 2: understanding polygon components and manipulation. Use poly modeling tools, options, and functions.

Week 3: This week I learned about divisions, vertices, edges, faces, extrusion, smoothing, extracting, combining, and separating parts of objects.

Week 3: shaded view. This is also where I first started struggling with the camera views because I accidentally changed them.

Week 4: Project completed! I solved the camera view issue. I also Learned about face normals, poly count display, components, and curves. As well as how to clean up a 3D Model. The result being how to break down complex images into simple parts.

This is my first 3D Modeling Project ever and it was made in Maya. My instructors at the Academy of Art University are great at breaking complex projects into small parts and teaching all the short cut keys or "hot keys" along the way. My class instructor Van Phan is very knowledgeable and helps us all grow as artists and industry technicians. He insists we practice using the Remote Lab client to access the Virtual Machine, utilizing all the industry standard software and plug ins. Practicing and proving we can work in a remote pipeline utilizing cloud client software. I complied and created this Robot entirely on a remote virtual machine. The best way to learn is by doing. I learned a lot in the four weeks of class I built this robot in.
