Harley Lily

A Harley lily with two tiny bees quenching their thirst by drinking the raindrops that collected on the petals after a summer morning's rain. I love the way the flowers, foliage, and grass overlap to show depth.
This project was my first original digital painting based on my own original photograph. No provided line art to start from. It really taught me a lot about blending. To blend or not to blend that is the question. Also, how much blending is too much. As you can see my technique greatly improved as I worked from left to right. I left it that way for two reasons. 1: you can tell it's not a photograph, 2: it shows my growth as an artist in just one piece.
