Self-Caricature, Silent Era of Animation

In History of Animation Class my first assignment was to choose a "Silent Era Pioneer" and draw a self-caricature in that style. I chose Ub Iwerks, the artist who initially drew Steamboat Willy. My messy bun didn't quite work with Minnie Mouse's ears though. So, I decided not to be a mouse. I just made a white line for my ears which quickly turned into hooks of my glass's arms. I instinctively drew the tail but realized it before submission and removed it. I was told several times that the curls are stylistically reminiscent of Betty Boop. My instructor's feedback was, "I absolutely adore this, Christa! And truly, that pose and Personality!" Ub Iwerks is back with us~!"
